The Business
Somerset Workwear is a brand of Somerset Solders Ltd (The Company) based in Somerset, UK. It directly employs its workforce from within the UK.
It is Somerset Solders Ltd Company policy to conduct all business in an honest and ethical manner and it is committed to ensuring that the Company operates professionally at all times.
As part of that commitment, both the internal Company operations and those within the supply chain are monitored and maintained to ensure that all parties are complying with the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
Employment
Employment is neither forced, through mental or physical threat, nor involuntary and is based on a mutually signed contract of engagement. A safe and hygienic working environment is provided and adequate steps are taken to prevent accidents or injury occurring in the workplace.
Working hours will comply with national laws and will not exceed 48 hours per week. Wages and benefits paid to meet, at a minimum, national legal standards and all employees are provided with written and understandable employment conditions with respect to wages before commencing employment.
No discrimination is practised in any form be it race, religion, age, disability, gender, marital status, sexual orientation or political affiliation.
Supply chain
Somerset Solders Ltd endeavours to enter into any supplier relationship ensuring compliance with legislation, human rights and ethical codes of conduct. It is ultimately the suppliers’ duty to conduct their business in such a way that does not breach the laws of employment and ethical trading either nationally or internationally. The Company will endeavour within reason to conduct risk assessments of associated third parties and investigate, where feasible, the working conditions of their employees.
Commitment
Somerset Solders Ltd acknowledges its responsibilities to comply with the provisions as detailed in the Modern Slavery Act 2015. The Company does not enter into business with any other organisation, whether UK or International, which is knowingly involved in slavery or forced labour.
